an independent ai research lab studying how information moves through a population — and what it leaves behind.
pre-launch · 2026.q2thesis · §01
engagement is noise. consequence is signal. platforms count what lights up — the likes, the reposts, the dwell time. they cannot count what a sentence does to a reader three days later, or to a community you did not know you were addressing.
afterwave is a research lab. we study the downstream effect: what a piece of content changes after the click, once the engagement has decayed. we report measurements, not opinions — every forecast is an account of how information will move through a population, with error bars, not a guess.
research
a population of synthetic readers — each with a modeled prior, attention budget, and position in a social graph — simulates response to a draft before it is published. we report calibration against 2.1m held-out posts, and characterise the conditions under which the forecast breaks.
approach
a synthetic population reads your draft. not keywords — readers, each with a prior, an attention budget, and a place in the network.
every signal ships with error bars and a held-out score. a forecast you cannot audit is an opinion wearing a number.
we measure downstream effect — what a post changes weeks later — not the engagement it spikes in the first hour.
forecast · the applied instrument
submit a draft and forecast simulates 8,412 synthetic agents reading it. you see projected reach, response half-life, and any backlash risk — before you publish, not after.
forecast is the lab's research, made operational. it is in private beta with the pre-launch cohort.
afterwave is pre-launch. we are opening a small research cohort. tell us where to reach you and we will be in touch when your cohort opens.
